Oh how you fly, dad.
I see you up up in the skies, how great your wings are.
(Oh,) The harmony of your feathers, determined and noble.

No matter how many others have admired and followed your splendor, I’ve always been the first in line.
I don’t want to stay behind, I don’t want to leave your side.
I know soon enough I’ll be like you, it’s written in the stars.
I’ll fly so high, so fast, you’ll see. You’ll feel so proud of me…

Today seems odd. I've been waiting for you to come home. Why aren’t you here yet?
- What happened?
- Why are you crying, mom?

Tonight feels cold and confusing.
I can’t see you anymore. Where are they taking you?!
Tell me daddy, are you ever coming back?

Stay, stay with me!
Don’t let yourself go, don’t leave me here all alone.
I’m not ready to fly without you
I still need you.
Is he breathing?

Yes, he’s breathing.

It’s been a while since I last saw your smile.
Mom says that it’s like you were born again.
That you need to take care of yourself, and you’ll be away for a while.
Your life has been split into two pieces,
they left you an injury.
And the wind soaring under your wings, now it’s just a memory.

We used to think that the world didn’t go further than what our own lives showed us. That the sky was the limit, the only place where we belonged.
But with determination you showed us that, even if the river grows and our wings can’t fly anymore, we can still sail across.
Our world changed, but your life had to keep going, just in a different way.

With pain in your chest and wings all tied up, you met others like you.
Their lives, their stories and their hearts.
Suffering must never be compared. However, learning how to heal your wounds is something pretty admirable, I must say.

Forgiving doesn’t change what happened. It doesn’t shine a light on the dark days of the past, nor it gives you back the sky, even if you asked.
Like the wind, forgiving takes away all of the bad, all of the pain, and all of the hate that remained.
The wind dad! Oh how it made you fly, with such strength and pride. We didn’t understand it then, but it has always given us life.
A breeze… a breath.

Finally you’re back! You’re breathing! You’re breathing dad!
I see the strength that you carry within. Your will to live.
Your life gave us another chance.
Your life gave us our future back.

And even though you thought it couldn’t be you who would teach me how to fly, it was you who taught me how to reach far.
From now on, for you, I’ll fly with no fear.
I’ll be your wings and wherever I go I’ll keep you near.
